William R. Bennett Bridge

Location: Kelowna, BC Contract Value: $2.15M

The construction of the new floating bridge poses many unique challenges. Somerset used a specially designed shoring bracket system previously used on the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge (2004) in South Carolina. Other equipment specified and designed were spreader beam and girder clamps, a girder stiffening truss and 180-tonne capacity shoring towers. All planning, sequencing and execution of the steel erection was done by KWH Constructors and Somerset.
