Equatorial Guinea LNG Suspension Bridge
Location: Equatorial Guinea Contract Value: $10M
This new US $4.1 billion Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant in Equatorial Guinea, West Africa was developed to produce 3.7 million tonnes of LNG per year. To convey the 1-metre diameter pipes over an unstable slope down to a loading jetty, a 350-metre pipeline bridge was designed to ensure maximum safety and longevity of the operations. Somerset began by designing all the specialized erection equipment such as the 'Hiline', a special purpose 36 tonne capacity cableway, rollers, cable winder, and traveling access platform. All construction engineering was done by Somerset and each erection step was carefully analyzed and planned before any equipment left for West Africa. The complete steel construction was carried out by KWH Constructors.
