Barbara Creek Bridge

To install this 91-metre clear span pipeline truss bridge over an environmentally sensitive ravine, our engineers decided to use the launch method. The box truss chord member could not take the stresses from stationary rollers so a runway was made and the rollers were on shoes under the truss. The bridge was shipped in three sections with field-welded splices. The pipe and walkways were installed prior to launch. After the launch, two cranes lowered the bridge down onto the permanent bearings.
