Somerset provided quotations to Kiewit-FCI-Manson Joint Venture for 725-tonne capacity segment lifters, and conducted condition review of the lifters supplied on the job. Somerset provided construction engineering on the 2-kilometre-long project, including erection and launching scheme for the seismic 90-tonne hinge pipe beams linking the bridge sections together. Somerset provided peer review for the lifting engineering of two 1,630-tonne orthotropic tub link spans between the Skyway and SAS Span, including the temporary support towers. At the time, this was the largest single contract in Caltrans history.
