Alsea Bay Bridge

Location: Waldport, OR Contract Value:

This graceful steel was a fitting replacement to the picturesque spans of C. B. McCullough's circa 1936 concrete bridge structure. The initial service provided by Somerset was to provide the steel erector and general contractor with an economical erection scheme and to produce an erection budget estimated. Our proposal impressed both these parties and we proceeded with detailed construction design.

The 107-meter arch was erected from a timber trestle which was aligned according to our erection sequences and crane layout clearances. All rigging, props and pile jacking heads were also detailed by Somerset. Methods of attaining the different angles for each box member were produced to facilitate lifting and connecting.
